This week at Streetglams, we present you Lauranne De Jaegher, a young Belgian fashion designer.
Remember Winter solstice, a fashion story? There, we featured just one outfit of Lauranne’s latest collection, and today we present you the rest, along with our chat with this lovely 21 year old woman.
Interview with Lauranne De Jaegher, fashion designer
Streetglams: can you tell us about yourself in a few words?
Lauranne De Jaegher: While I started with studies in communication, I graduated in fashion design in 2014, and have been working in fashion since then. Currently, I work on my own projects, and I am also an intern at Natan.
SG: Can you tell us more about the collections featured today?
LDJ: I was inspired by the movie Black Swan, and more particularly by the dual character of Nina. I drew a lot from that duality to produce the destructured painting on the outfits. It fitted my spontaneous style of painting.
SG: Oh, I get you there! I myself have been inspired by the movie and the brilliant performance of Natalie Portman. Streetglams loves Black Swan too!
LDJ: Indeed! As for the dancing, I decided to forgo the ballet aspect altogether, and focus instead on the precious, light traits of feathers and lace. I wanted the outfits to be both feminine and spectacular.
SG: Any future projects?
LDJ: Well, I took part in quite a few shows and fashion contests, recently, like Talons Aiguilles (jury’s award), Ethno Tendance (first prize), or the Salon du Chocolat to name a few. This year, I will participate again in Salon du Chocolat, and I plan to go further with feathers, how to use them through different techniques. I am busy with that sort of research at the moment. I hope I’ll launch a new collection soon.
SG: Well, that’s all we wish you! We’re very happy to have met you at Ethno Tendance, and we’ll stay in touch to follow your development!
LDJ: Thank you, that’s so sweet! And thank you for the amazing story last time, the whole team did a great job!
